FILIPA VALLADARES

Filipa Valladares, born in Lisbon, 1971, is a curator, independent producer, publisher and bookseller. She holds a Bachelor’s in Sculpture and a post-graduate in Curatorial Studies from FBAUL (Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon). Filipa was the coordinator for Fundació Foto Colectania (Barcelona) in Portugal (2001-2010) and has been a guest lecturer in several universities and art schools. As an independent curator, she has organised numerous exhibitions, namely: In a place between the wind, Rui Dias Monteiro, Espaço MIRA, Porto, 2014; PAPEL (co-curated with José Luis Neto), Marta Castelo, Library of the Municipal Archive of Lisbon, 2013; Terrae, Manel Armengol at Galeria Pente 10, Lisbon, 2010. She has co-curated several exhibitions with Maria do Mar Fazenda: Ohm Law/Artistic Residence EDP Foundation Museum of Electricity, 2014; Spaces of Action for the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, 2013; MNAA Contemporary Looks/ Residence EDP Foundation at the National Museum of Ancient Art, Lisbon, 2012. In 2011, Filipa Valladares opened STET-Books and Photographs, a bookstore specialising in photography, artist books and self-publishing. She published Provisional Installations, Sandra Vieira Jürgens, Documenta, In-Transit, STET,  2016; Syllabário, Patricia Telles, STET, 2016; The Wonders, Luis Silveirinha, EDP Foundation, 2015; Under Each Herb, Rui Dias Monteiro, 2014. Filipa Valladares co-organized the first Lisbon Photography Fair in 2010 and has promoted, organised and curated photography events, exhibitions, talks and workshops, both in collaboration and on her own.
