Nomaduma Masilela

Nomaduma Rosa Masilela is an artist, curator, and writer. Masilela’s art interests converge around ideas of the uncanny, the absurd, and the dissonant; collective work and strategy; public and performance art; and the ambivalent natures of authenticity, history and identity production. Most recently, Masilela co-curated the 10th Berlin Biennale, titled We don’t need another hero, for which she also produced the curatorial-publication project Strange Attractors, which included a dedicated reading room in KW Institute for Contemporary Art. Previously, she has worked at the Museum of Modern Art, The Kitchen, and the Brooklyn Museum, all in New York. Her doctoral research at Columbia University focuses on public and performance art of 1980’s Dakar. She is currently based in Europe.
